We're getting married in April, and it has been a fast engagement.  I've been trying to do as much handmade stuff as I can get away with, and one idea was to include a cute, slightly cheesy, interactive save the date with the invitations (also handmade).

This is, of course, nowhere near as cool as some of the things that I've seen on crafty wedding blogs.  However, it will be entirely done by hand, and the picture is my own art and taken from one of my favorite pictures of us.

The interactive piece of this is of the biplane 'flies' across the sky through the use of a pull-tab.  Think low-budget pop-up card.

The flag is kind of hard to read.  It says "I <3 (heart) THIS" and then when you pull it out it says our wedding date.
Hope you all like it!

I love it, that's so cute! But I have to ask two questions: Was there really a biplane in your picture (seems silly to ask but that would have been really cool!!!) and are you drawing each by hand individually?

@psycho_happy_kitten... Thanks so much!  Unfortunately, there was no biplane in the real picture, but that would have been really cool if there was!  It was actually taken on our porch, and he is smiling, which he rarely does in pictures.

I drew the original picture, and then copied it onto each postcard using my printer.  Man, I don't think I'd be able hand draw each one, but that would definitely make it super cool.

I LOVE the idea of making it interactive!  If you haven't finished them all, have you thought of using a strip of paper instead of ribbon to limit the ink bleeding?  Even if you're done, they still look great!

I got married 4 1/2 years ago, sadly before I became crafty and there are SO MANY THINGS I wish I could have done now to make it more handmade and more "us".  I think it's great you're doing what you can, you won't regret it!
