I'm not sure where to put these. They were made to hang on a wall but they're not your average housewares because they could also be pins or gigantic necklace charms. There's no woodworking section so I just put it here. Craftster should really just have an OWL section!

Anyway, I've been doing miniature paintings on little log cuttings for a while. When I saw the shape of these cuts, I knew they MUST be made into owls. They were about 4" x 2" and the wood was naturally shaped like this. I painted on them using acrylic. I kept it relatively minimal so that the wood grain would still be nice and visible. They turned out to be so freaking cute!

Wow, that was a really fortunate shape to find in a log. They look really neat! Did you have the whole log, or did you just get the two slices from it? It would be neat to see a whole series of log owls Smiley

Thanks everyone! PerfectlyBohemian, I got them from my supplier on Etsy. These were the only cuts that had the defined shape. I sooo wish there were more. They were incredible fun to do!

That is an awesome use of material - love that you found such a great shaped section of wood - they are adorable.  How many owls were you able to make from that?
