A dear friend of mine had her first baby in November. I wanted to make a present for the boy, but didn't figure out what to make until early December. I chose the Latvian Garden Baby blanket (can be found for free on ravelry), bought some Regia sock yarn and started knitting. That week I went to visit a friend and spent ten hours on a bus to get there, which worked wonders for the progress.

I chose the green colours because they looked nice and not too gender specific. I found the rubberboot fabric at a craft store and knew my friend would love it.

Yesterday I finished the blanket by cutting the steek and sewing the back. The edges are not entirely even, but not wonky enough to be a problem. It was hard matching the woven backing to the knit front. This is the largest item I have ever knit, as I usually make socks and mittens.

Sorry about the poor picture quality. I had to use my cell phone because my camera stubbornly refuses to work.
