Altered Keys!

Hi there! Just thought I'd like to show you what I made yesterday. I recieved some house keys in a supply swap a while ago and it wasnt until yesterday I came across these beautiful little things http://mysalvagedtreasures.blogspot.com/2011/03/visions-of-spring-repurposed-jewelry.html
that I thought I might give it a go too! They were super duper fun to make, I made them all in one afternoon because I was having so much fun I couldn't stop!
So here are my keys that I made into pendants or hanging ornaments, made from broken jewelery, buttons and gems

Yes actually now that I think of it, they do kind of look like maces or hammers dont they! Especially the last one. Haha

Those are gorgeous!  I've often felt frustrated at not knowing what to do with lonely non-vintage keys... this is a real inspiration.  Not to mention yet another fine example of how *everything* looks better when it's blinged up

Wouldn't it be fun to remember your old cars or houses by blinging up the keys and keeping them useful?  I know many of you have no idea about this, but computers used to come with keys so you could lock your PC...and those keys are so cute and I have tons of them (I work for a computer company... )

Blinging up keys is fun! There is no such thing as having too many keys. Yours look great!

Thank you! Yes I know exactly what you mean, i just had a bunch of these normal keys, when all i really wanted were those awesome vintage ones, that was until I saw what other people did with them

these are gorgeous! i have tons of keys (i am a very forgetful and scatter brained person and lose my apartment keys a lot, then have to get new ones, then later find the old key that doesn't fit the locks anymore) and can never figure out what to do with them! looking at these gave me a few ideas! thank you so much for your inspiration!

I'm in love with these!  May I ask though what kind of glue you used on these amazing keys?

Thank you guys! I tried all types of glue I had on hand, mostly a hot glue gun, but that didn't stand the test of time very well so Id suggest a stronger clear tacky glue.

Ah EyeofMazikeen!! Your keys are gorgeous!! My keys were already those colours but I reckon it would be easy enough to use nailpolish or paints to colour them up a bit!
