I made some of those flippy-ish shirts with the band at the top. It works best with stretchy-jersey-knit material. I got a yard of black at walmart for a dollar. It takes like 15 minuites, and its really easy. The best part...no precise mesurments needed. Shocked

one dollar, what a bargin. Grin

Put tape around the fabric to form a large circle...just use your judgment. No need to be perfect. Cut it out.

Mine mesured about 35inches across.

The cirlce. Note how its lopsided.

Fold it in half.

Take a big chunk off by cutting around the edge evenly. It should be about 1/2 the original size.

ttp://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/roxiobabe711/IM000477.jpg
Fold it and cut a little of the center off. Start small, and fit it around your waist, keep cutting till it fits around. Should not be too tight, but it should be loose where you can easilly slide it on and off.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/roxiobabe711/IM000478.jpg
Spread it out.

Only if you cut the hole too big (like i did) just cut it on one size, and seam it up so it fits.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/roxiobabe711/IM000480.jpg
Cut a band about 3 inches wide, and plenty long enough. Sew it to the other part so that when you open it up, the seams are on the inside. So basically, you will be sewing in a circle. Ask me to clear some things up on this step. I didnt do a very good job explaining it.

Finished product. Excuse the tie-dye shirt. And the expression on my face.

Up close.

Another one I made with some terry cloth fabric i got at jo anns. I cut the circle way too small, so the skirt is really short. I decided to put it to work as my bikini coverup.

Again.

Mwha, there it is. Ask me to clear some things up, as I mostley used pictures. Soitispossibletosew askirtin15minuites,andspendonedollar. I thought so. Kiss

Thanks. If your really patient, it can be done handsewn. The only thing that needs to be stitched is the waistband, and you can do a whipstitch.

Alright. Haha clearly, im not too good with directions o_O. Okay, so you have the skirt with the hole cut in the middle. It doesnt matter what side, unluess your using fabric with a wrong side and a right side (in that case, the band and circle with hole get sewn right sides togeather) it gets sewn onto the band. Get a long piece of fabric about 3 inches wide, and a few inches longer than your waist, and sew it onto the hole in the circle...like this : After you sewed it on, sew the band togeather, so the seams dont show when the skirt is on. Hope that helped...
