Hey so I tried another crayon art piece.  For this one I used the hair dryer technique and the glue gun technique.

Tutorial and inspirition from http://lightandspoon.wordpress.com/2011/11/25/i-feel-melty/

I found some images I liked online - edited and siloutted them.
I used a pair of scissors to hold a turquoise crayon on the canvas and used my hair dryer to melt it and ta-da - puddle with splash.

Then I did the silhouttes by  tracing from my computer to freezer paper (my printer is broken)  I covered that in blue tape and cut out the image.  Then used the outside as a stencil and painted.

I kind of like it with just this splash of color

Then I used the blue tape that had covered the image to cover it on the canvas as I melted the crayons through the glue gun.

The glue gun is a messy process

I regret deciding to do this in my very small and crowded room.  But it made some cool designs for my sewing machine

and luckily my sewing machine doesn't get hot enough to melt the crayon onto any fabric.

Only big issue about this besides the mess in the room (and on me, I don't know how but somehow I got crayon all over my face and in my mouth) is that the wax I dripped down doesn't all stick to the canvas - so when little hands go to feel it some of the drops fall off - maybe a gloss on top or an iron to the back to help melt it to the canvas?

Also this is the original of this image - I love it and am going to freaking claim it as mine so that my family doesn't claim i stole it from others

Awh. . . I actually kind of like the puddle only canvas too.  Not sure which way I like it best.
