WAY LATE on this thread, but just caught it. I agree with all the comments. I recently had a cat hit on the road (these crazy drivers here!). I would not be offended if someone offered a gift in memory of her.

Remember this: husband is a MAN. And they don't really understand emotion. At least most of them do not. They don't like to cry, or see it in action, either. It upsets them, and makes them want to start, which would embarrass them.  Tongue

Tears are healthy, even when it involves suffering a loss. It helps for the healing part. Glad to see you were able to offer that comfort to your friend. And a very cute doggie you made. Share these thoughts with hubby, if you like. Perhaps he will understand things better?
