So... I finally did it!! I don't have any 'new' pictures (my dreads are now a month and a half old since I did them in November and it is now January... wow!) But I have some pics of the first day. Smiley

This is a good pic showing the length when I started...

And there's another.

My hair was about 24 inches long when I started, and my dreads have shrunk to about 12-14 inches... and they're CURLY, which I think is really funny.

Anyway, that's them! I'll post more pics when I have good 'current' ones. Smiley Thanks for all the encouragement, guys!

Oh... And anyone have any tips for how to prevent matting at the base? My friends who did the right side of my head didn't start close enough to the scalp, so it's poofy and sort of all matting together. I've been ripping them apart, but I don't know how to do any maintenance to get rid of the flyaways I have so I can make it all better... any tips?

after a lot of pain and patience i took out my dreads.
I mostly did it because i needed a new beginning in my life after a series of bad events and ending of a long term relationship. So i took them out. Took me about 2 weeks, i didn't work on them straight i had too much school work XD so yeah. My hair is exactly like it use to be, though a wee bit shorter ^ ^

You should post pics!

A few of my friends have cut or combed out their dreads in the past few weeks.

But question: once you get dreadlocks, is there a way to ever take them out again??
yes you can take them out, or so I've heard, but it's a very time consuming deal. You have to soak them in conditioner and detangling products and using a very fine tooth comb you can brush them out. what I've read says it took someone with fully mature locks seven hours to get less then half of them out so it's easier to just cut them.

hello everyone, well I've had my dreads for about a year now and I want to do what is called an ACV rinse. But I'm not quite sure how to go about or even what materials I need to go buy or make. Could someone fill me in?

Go to the grocery store and buy some cheap apple cider vinegar, put some in a cup with some water (dont water it down too much) and pour it over your head in the shower. Leve it on like conditioner then you can rinse it out Tongue
