Help me, my dreaded friends!

I'm going through a 'grrr my dreads are really gettting on my nerves' phase. They're long enough to hang in my face and annoy me, but not quite long enough to tie back. Most of the time I just end up wearing a Buff to hold them off my face.

I've lost a lot of weight recently (yay me!) and now I've regained cheekbones, a little nagging voice keeps telling me, 'get your hair cut! you look goooood with short hair!'

I need some encouragement and motivation to get me through these dark days because I don't want to go back to the endless and expensive round of washing my hair every day and getting it cut every 5 weeks. Help me please!

Yeah I wear headband all the time (or headscarf or that big rubberband thingie that long haired soccer players usually wear, when they don't want pony tail). Think of the hair style that suited you the best while you had normal hair/ or that can show off your skinny cheekbones the best. Like if you want to go for the pony tail look you  can put that big rubber band further from your front head or do two pony tails w/ matching rubber band etc.
That's one of the reasons I love to have dreads I have to wear colorful things on my heaf every day. Grin

Thanks guys, you're really helping. I'm just about to go off for a nice holiday in the sun so that will no doubt help -- the sun and sea will soon get my dreadies looking tight, blonde and fab Grin

I'll post some pix when I get back.

wow. alot has changed since i last read this thread. namely, naked ninja isnt commenting anymore.  i was greatful for all of her awesome tips on dread care.

well, ive done it! Tongue i hade a few random dreads towards the end of the summer and was trying to decide if i wanted a whole head. i took em out, got a cut, then decided that i did indeed want a whole head of em!!

um, it helps quite a bit that i had a 2.5 month outward bound semester in the woods and on the sea to help them get established Tongue they range in age from 1.5 to 1 month old, to not quite done yet. the past month was so busy i didnt have time to finish up the back, and i think i need someone else to do that part for me Smiley probably today or tomorrow, now that we are back home and we have too much time to deal with.

there are nuts (from a hardware store) in there, it was all i could find in gorham, nh in the middle of course Tongue i think they look almost the same as normal hair...from a distance.

I read from this site, that if you have dreadlocks and decide you don't want it anymore you have to shave yourself blad and regrow your hair again. Is that true? Cause i've been itching to dreadlock my head for college. which is in 2 years =)
