Yuck!!!

Rowan runs the place. I call my ass "hotel Rowan-da!"

Can I make jokes about that?

I'll put my hair up one of these days, particularly now that the sweet, sweet photobucket widget is there!

I went to a small school, and they had to close it a few times to fumigate it because the lice was so bad. It happened almost every year. Tongue

That's insane...

Back in highschool one of my buddies decided no to NEVER throw out his lunch which ended up being left in his locker for the entire year... We ended up having a fruit fly infestation and they actually had his locker sealed off. Hahahaha!!!

green monk- what a sweet idea to have each friend do a dread! Then you'd have their memory wherever you go. Also, your little sunflower looks really good! Can't wait to see you with more.

(hypocrit for not posting her own dread photos. Soon I swear!)

What a great idea. Talk about a set of dreads that truly hold meaning...

I think you did an absolutely awesome job backcombing! A litle note of caution and/or advice though. That dread will shrink to be smaller than what it is presently... which means that it will be helluva small. The problem with really really really skinny locks are that they are more prone to breakage becaue they are so thin and they just keep getting thinner with the shrinking stage. Dreadlocks tend to be dry and dryness can lead to hair becoming brittle... In a very tiny dread this can become a serious problem. If you wanted really skinny locks like that I would definately suggest going to see a professional loctitian who has experience with tiny locks.

Speaking from experience, I don't think someone should section their hair smaller than 1 inch by 1 inch without seeing a pro. Maybe a few very skinny ones here and there is alright (as long as you realize that they may run into issues). You could always try to get the tiny ones to congo with another existing dread.  Cheesy

This one company called Sisterlocks only deals with super tiny dreads. You can hardly tell they are dreads really... They are in Cali though and it appears that their clientele seems to only contain folks with african textured hair.

Anyway I'm not trying to discourage you!!! I just want you to know that breakage is a possibility. You did do a fabulous job and I can't wait to see how many locks you come back from your vacation with!!!!

Good luck!

My dreads are actually getting fatter and fatter with time. They were made kind of skinny (1 inch by 1 inch or smaller) and at first they shrunk. But then they've started looping and knotting a lot. After 7 months most of them are shorter but fatter then what they were in the beginning. A few might be skinnier but they're not many. My boyfriends dreads though haven't formed any loops at all and they might be a tiny bit skinnier than when I made them. I think it's different with different hair. Our dreads looks and behaves a lot different. That's one thing I love with dreads  Grin

Yep dreads surely are unique. That's what I like about them too.

True they will get fatter... But not till after the shrinking stage. Infact some people don't experience their dreads getting fatter at all.

I remember way back there was a huge discussion on knottylocks about dreads getting fatter. Most people said that theirs never did and lots of people said that their dreads seemed to only get fatter at the tips.
