Its cool that the de-tangler worked. So why did you cut them?

I've had my dreads now for 7-8 months.  I'm annoyed with them now knotting up at the ends.  It doesn't matter what I do the last 2-3 inches is silky and won't stay knotted.  I'm really confused by the crochet method everyone keeps talking about and can't make it work for me.  Anyone have any suggestions?

it was just TIME. you know? I've had dreads for over 6 years, and before I started growing them, my hair was already down to my butt!  Anyway, my ends were never really knotted up all the way.  I mean, I had awesome knobs at the ends, but also had whispies at the bottom, too.  I think it's just more natural that way. Almost NO ONE's hair  will knot up all neat and pretty like most of the custy dreads out there you see.  my 2
