I made this hat a few months ago for rlynn, actually her daughter, in the Pinterest Swap... rlynn had a "scrappy" hat, made out of t-shirts pinned for her... I took this idea and ran with it... 99% of this hat is made from recycled/reclaimed items ... I tried to tie in some of her daughters favorite themes... It was one of those projects that when I started I had NO IDEA where I was going with it or what the end result was going to be.....I'm pretty happy with the way it came out, and it is definitely a one of a kind....

here are some up close shots of the embroidery, applique, and other do-dads that found their way onto this hat

the ear flaps.... the little blue bird is the one thing that i actually cut from a piece of fabric... and the "life is good" dude... the original t-shirt was trashed a long time ago, but I couldn't just throw him out

a rainbow and a pirate... the pirate also has a little treasure map embroidered around it, with a palmtree and island... and ofcourse the "X" to mark the spot ..both made from scraps of old sweatshirts

and I couldn't resist elephants and batman..... again, scraps from an old sweatshit... and the elephant is a felted sweater

robot and owl...

thanks for looking!!

OGD - way way way cute!!   Cheesy  I love the scrappiness of it!  Did you make your own pattern?  And how did you line it?  Pass on the info, chickee, I would love to imitate your creative hat!!  I just love it.   Cheesy Kiss

rackycoo.. ya know, I think its a personal challenge for me to take a pile of nothing and turn it into something ... and when it actually works out, I have to challenge myself to something bigger and better the next time!

So personal.  I could see what a fun project this would be to come up with different materials and themes.  Absolutely adorable.

My kids would love them, but the shy one would have a hard time wearing it in public because of all of the attention it would draw!
