In the current Christmas/Winter Ninni Swap, my partner said she would like  "the beginning of a little forest-land setting that relates to Christmastime; I like the idea of snowy woods with little creatures around a tree..."

I had to think about it for a while, but I finally decided that Christmas + snowy +forestland = these Christmas tree pillows!

I just drew the trees on paper, cut them out, and used the paper for a template when cutting the tree fabric.  I stiffened the fabric with iron-on interfacing, then sewed on the buttons, then sewed on the backs and stuffed the pillows.

For the woodland creatures, I was excited to have found a use for this American Girl Crafts kit that I had been given to review.  I whipped them up in a couple of hours.  Whoever designed this kit did a great job; the simple outline of the raccoons, combined with the surface detail, makes them really appealing.

And, these blue raccoons were PERFECT for this, because my partner is decorating for Christmas with red, lime, and turquoise!  The larger raccoon is about 9" tall, so I made the larger tree 14" and the two smaller trees 12".  I made the grouping to be a sofa decoration, but it is large enough to work along a baseboard or on a fireplace hearth.  My partner loves it!  Don't they look cute all together?

again, we have to leave it to Leslie that when a swap partner says they'd like to have a little somethin' woodlands...the next thing you know, you have to build an addition to the house! (THREE angel Ninnis accompanied this package--hey, where are they?)

those trees are a winter wonderland; so so pretty.
and i have to say, this is one plushie kit that is very cute design. We need more of this kind of thing on the store shelves vs the same old same old.

Great crafting, LHH!

Thanks everyone! This was one of those times when I was able to bring my idea to life quite successfully! It was fun, and I'm so glad you like them, Diane!
