I made this for the awesome alwaysinmyroom for the Scrappy Swap. She likes things inspired by the sea, so I made her a little box for tiny treasures. It is made out of mostly silk scraps, a little organza, machine embroidered and hand sewn, with a few glass beads too.

Each side is similar.

The little shell rings slide down to open the top, the inside is plain silver silk.

It's probably more decorative than practical. but I think alwaysinmyroom likes it anyway Smiley  I'm looking forward to doing some more freehand projects soon!

This is beautiful, jemimah! The colors, the design, the stitching, the fabrics... everything about it is just plain lovely.

Ooh, it's SO pretty! I'd love to see a shot of it open showing the inside. Very nice, I'm totally envious.

The bad news: There is no key to happiness.
The good news: It isn't locked.

I am honored to have such a treasure!!!  It is stunning to look at and to touch...the ties at the top are so silky and soft...I did take pics of the inside!!  It is a lovely grey silk...just gorgeous by itself...

I have always admired the embroidery and sewing skills you have, jemimah...and now I have something you made all for myself!!  I have some lovely aquamarine jewelry that I have been given all my life (I am a Pisces!!), so they will live in this treasure box...

btw--I also received a fish shaped mug rug...I cannot take a chance that I will spill coffee or wine on it, so it will be only for my water glass!...maybe... I will post pics tonight in the swap... Grin

Thanks everyone!

I'm so glad you like it alwaysinmyroom Smiley  It was a lot of fun to come up with the design from scratch and to see how it evolved as I made it - it changed a lot along the way.

My pic of the inside is no good, so I'll add one of yours once you had a chance to post them, if that's OK. Oh, and your fishy is washable Smiley
