Ive got another of those little boxes coming for Christmas.  I personally love the look of Skeins and hate having to put them on the little card spools, but as you say Mellybelly I just end up buying duplicates because I cant find the skein I need.  So I am probably going to organise my whole stash into these boxes.  Also the one pictured is quite small so perfect for toting around.

@Elliot_Anne the craft room blog you posted was really interesting.  Ive seen some craftrooms before that are beautiful, but are clearly so impractical (they look like show rooms) Its nice to actually see some which are neatly organised but with enough storage to make sure they stay that way.  Although as ever they do make me jealous. Id love to have a craft room, however at the moment I just have to make do with others pictures Smiley.
P.s I cant wait to see a picture of your work.

Have any of you used those long skein organizers?  I know jemimah uses them but I am not sure how they are stored or even done...I feel like I am way too new at needlework to know obvious things like this...I am going to the craft store today to pick up some things so I can at least find the stuff I need...my stuff gets so tangled because I just dig through the drawer and grab a hunk of thread...ha--I will post a picture just so I will be motivated to clean it up Grin

I think I might join this stitchalong. I don't an overabundance of floss, but it just sits in a semi-tangled mess in the case I keep them in. I'm trying to get out of just hoarding my craft supplies and actually using them instead. First up is getting my floss organized to see what I have and then I'll start figuring out projects.

I found these 4x5 plastic picture protectors and I want to fill them up with YOUR art. Let's swap.

To start things off - I have far too much pink embroidery thread.  I am not a fan of pink so struggle to use it in projects.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I got most of mine when I found a large tangled bag of embroidery floss at the thrift store for $2; I honestly didn't even know there were that many shades of pink!
As for storage, since I lacked patience and appropriate materials to organize with the cardboard holders, I used something else. In retrospect, it probably took just as long, but this way I have a lot more pretty color in my room:

Not really a space saver, but I had enough clothespins... although the collection is about 3X as long now.

What a creative way to wrap your threads!  I could easily string a clothesline across my room and use this idea!  I love it!

I've only done one cross stitch project and I loved it and I want to do more.  Earlier this year I inherited my mom's cross stitch supplies.  It has a bunch of books and a boat load of thread.

(They are currently sorted by DMC number) My mom and my embroidery forces combined!  So, needlessly to say, I have a fair bit of DMC embroidery floss.  I have a bunch of off brand ones as well that aren't in this box.  And I've been so wanting to do more cross stitching.  It would be a great thing to do for the new year!  I have quite a bit of blues and reds, it seems.

I bought this pattern: http://www.nordicneedle.com/prod/105-296-0022.html  and have yet to use it.  Maybe I could start with the dark blues and go lighter and use up all the blues that way.  What do you all think?

Jillybeans - I love the pattern you are planning to do. Colour variation sounds lovely too.
ChameleonHound - I love those pegs too much more fun and hopefully less easy to lose!

Im progressing along with my 'greens' project although yesterday I was distracted by sewing up a quilt.  Turns out I am going to be moving again shortly.
Back to the embroidery - I am hoping to finish the greens today and get a picture posted.  Funnily enough this project does actually require me to use some pinks.  Unfortunately not the dayglo ones that I have too many of!

Great idea. I have accumulated so many threads from people who left the country and passed on their embroidery threads, fabric and half finished projects to me.  Of course I, in turn, passed a lot on to other people who wanted them but somehow I also have too many of one colour - the one colour no one wanted  Sad - DMC 310 Black.   I guess I have to do a blackwork piece or maybe a text sampler.
