I'm from LA, but we're traveling up to Portland soon for winter vacation.

Does anyone in the area know where I could find amigurumi eyes or noses?

I don't really have any good locations in LA either, so I hoped to find some there.

I have found internet shopping to be the answer to finding specific craft supplies like safety eyes and noses.

I think Suncatcher Eyes is the best.  Very explicit website, with many sizes, colors, designs and choices -- all made clear on the size comparison page.

They even have several cute ami patterns available for free.

Best Wishes

Another thing you could try doing is using felt. I like using felt for the eyes, I think it is pretty cute, like in this one I made http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/425305_323760391006458_289946327721198_883585_960510809_n.jpg. I know that wasn't exactly what you are looking for, but it is always another option!
