Hi there,

I wanted to make the alien illusion scarf in SnB, and was wondering if anyone wanted to join me, to do a knitalong? I've bought the yarn already (yesterday) and have started, BUT, I'm a slow knitter....

So......is anyone interested?

I am planning on making another one of these with a skull pattern. I am knitting up "accidentally on purpose" from Sn'b nation & it is a LOT of stockinette stitch (23 inches on the back & 21 on the front).

I am certain to get bored with it & need a distraction so I will probably start my skull version next.

What kind of yarn are you using?

I also have my second alien scarf OTN for my daughter in bluish purples.  It has been on the back burner for a while for I found I just couldn't get into the second one.  I do need to pick it up and get going!

I also wrote out the chart if anyone wants it.  I find it hard to work from a chart.  Just let me know your email if you would like a copy!

I did my first one in brown sheep nature sport weight.  I'm doing my second in worsted weight.

Well, I don't have a LYS. just a rack in an old ladies' department store. I got the yarn from a shop in Clacton on a school trip on thursday, and it's shockingly blinding bright green & black, DK wool (she didn't have any aran) and acrylic. The only thing that bothers me is that it's acrylic, but the lady was really, really nice and I felt bad, so I bought it. (And I knew I wouldn't have been able to find the colour again.)

I've had the yarn for this one for awhile.  I also have Nature Spun in bright green and black.  I should go ahead and start it with all of you!  I needed another project to start, I've slowly been finishing some of my other ones.

*Edit*
Thanks for the chart, it's great!

I was excited and just started this scarf.  I only got 4 rows done but now I have to start over!  I am using sport weight yarn instead of worsted so I need to switch to smaller needles.  At least I only did 4 rows.

Wow - this is great! People are joining me!  Shocked

I've actually had a slight change of plan, myself. I've written about it a little on my blog, http://magicfingers.blogdrive.com, but basically I didn't buy enough yarn - I had to use double knitting yarn because the aran choices for green were REALLY boring and dull. I knit with two strands held together (involving many, many tangles....Argh. More in blog. Well, not THAT much more.) so will deffo not have enough to do 6 alien heads.

So, I'm going to make a little bag, instead!! Yay! This way, it's better, since I have like 0 patience. I hope that you've all made a start! Please post some pics soon, or if you're going to do it on your blogs, post a link!

I MUST SEE ALIEN SCARFS!

My scarf is going really slowly  Sad Woe is me.
I've managed to do so little that I can't even see part of the alien yet, oh well, I'll post a photo of my 'progress' when I get 'round to it.

That purse looks awesome!! I'm doing a skull illusion scarf right now. Ysolda posted the chart on craftster a few months ago (if anyone is interested in it just do a search for "skull illusion scarf") & I have been meaning to do this.

Here is my progress so far:

Just stripes (sorry it's upside down)

And with skulls:

I can't wait to see eveyrone's aliens!
