One of my 12-year-old daughters said that she would love a Harry Potter themed Christmas, so I got to work...

A Hogwarts Express sign, wand, time turner, butter beer cork necklace, quill pen, the golden snitch, and two covered journals.

Not shown is the hat I knit (a copy of the cable/lace watch cap that Hermione wears), because I knit that before the allowable crafting period. Also, there is a small steamer trunk we purchased from an antique shop, but since I didn't craft it, I'm not picturing it. Lastly, I am in the process of making a beaded bag like the one Hermione carries all the supplies in, but it isn't done yet. If I miraculously manage to finish it before 11:59PM PST tonight, I'll add it. But don't hold your breath. Ooh! And I almost forgot - I am also making her a winged key necklace, but I am waiting for the wings to arrive. Couldn't find them locally, so I had to order them.

The time turner is made of polymer clay, beads, headpins, a bit of glue, and is painted. All the pieces turn as they are supposed to. My husband suggested I make it, and I looked up pictures of the one from the movie.

The butterbeer necklace... Basically as close as I could come to the one Luna is wearing.

One of the journals - hand painted onto muslin. I was inspired by looking at photos in the back to Hogwarts swap gallery, but the design I used is from an 1880 embroidery book I own, modified somewhat.

This might be my favorite of the two journals... I'm not a Lockhart fan, but... I think this came out pretty well. And what better place to write about yourself than in a book called "Magical Me?!" I thought of this one before checking out the Back to Hogwarts gallery. Also, a Rita Skeeter inspired quill pen - Quick Quotes Quill.

Hand carved wooden wand. Painted brown with gold accent. (My husband did the knife parts, since I am prone to accidents. As I always say, no project is done till I've bled.)

And the golden snitch, inspired by one that imtheasian1 made.

Anyway, all the goodies will be loaded into the trunk with about a gazillion chocolate coins (galleons, dontcha know!), so it is technically one gift, just several pieces. I'm really hoping she likes it all. =)

What amuses me most is that maybe 10 minutes after posting this, I got word that my husband won a free wand from www.alivans.com. She has been pining for a wand for months and months, but I wasn't about to pay $40 for a stick.  (Ok, I'm cheap, I know... but... we have 6 kids... so we try to keep it frugal. Lots of college tuition coming up, lol). Somehow, though, I think she will like the wand her Dad helped make, best. She's just that way.

I love the entire project but I must say (not a Lockhart or Rita fan) that the journal and quill are my favorite. I think they're perfectly paired.
