At long last, I have finished the last four napkins in my set of 12 Sailor Jerry tattoo napkins!!  The embroidery itself has been done for months, but it took me a long time to get out my sewing machine to finish the edges.  I've been posting the napkins four at a time, so this is the final post.

These were made from an old flannel sheet I found around the house, and the designs are Sailor Jerry tattoo flash.  All are done with two strands of floss, and mostly stem stitch, with some back stitch and satin stitch.  I mainly use seed stitch for shading.

A Sailor's Grave

Rose

Eagle

Ship (I had fun with all the detail on this one)

In case anyone is interested in looking at the other 8 napkins, here are my older posts:

They are wonderful, well done. It must have taken so much patience (and inspiration) for a set of 12!

Congratulations on finishing up this set!! I really love all of them. It would be fun to attend a dinner party at your house and get to use one of these Smiley. Although, I wouldn't dare get one dirty!!

Thanks, everyone!

Speaking of getting them dirty, the very first time one of the earlier finished napkins was used was when my husband was eating some BBQ ribs.  He grabbed a newly-finished napkin and proceeded to wipe BBQ sauce off his face and hands with it;  the poor napkin was covered in sauce!  So, kind of a trial by fire with the napkins.  Fortunately, the BBQ sauce washed out, and the older napkins have been used a lot and still look good.  Stains seem to wash out of flannel really well, luckily.  And nowadays, if my husband is eating something super messy, he reaches for a paper towel instead.  Smiley

I know this is an old thread, but hello! I love sailor jerry style, and these are awesome! I can't believe you let people use them! I would have them locked up behind glass. It would be like those bathroom guest towels that no one is supposed to actually use!!
