As the title says, this was my very first. All I have in the house is an old cardboard box, really cheap coloured paper, old books, a few scraps of ribbon, pens, pencils and paint. I wanted to keep this super simple and quite rustic looking.

It's for my beautiful husband to be. I stayed up the whole of last night making it (mostly waiting for paint to dry) and left the completed book on the pillow next to him to wake up to and he absolutely adored it. I can only post links just now.

Also, can you walk us through how you created it? Would love to get a template and a how-to guide some day!

It was REALLY simple!

  • Using paper, draw the shapes you want your "pages" to be
  • Draw around the shapes on a cardboard box. I used the one my TV came in!
  • Cut out the shapes. I only had scissors but I wish I had a craft knife.
  • Paint some pages however you want and use the page templates to draw around pretty paper for the others.
  • Cut them out and glue them on!
  • Cut a hole in the top of each. I had to poke a pen through but would've preferred one of those hole punch things a lot of paper crafters use..
  • Do whatever you want on the pages! I wrote bits of lyrics from love songs and quotes.
  • Thread pretty ribbon through the holes and tie in a bow.
  • Attach a little memento. You can't really see it but in the last photo, there's a dragonfly. I just pushed his tail through the "knot" part of the bow.

and done! Simples Smiley
