My husband recently decided he hates all of his hobbies so wanted to try something fun and different and picked pottery.  How cool is that?  We found an art studio about a 90 minute drive from here and have been going every week.  I'm pretty happy that I'm able to produce pots but they are all pretty small (my largest is about 5 inches across).  Baby steps, right?  We're both really enjoying it and he's been making some noise about having our own studio some day.  Is there anyone out there with a home studio I could PM for some advice if/when the time comes?  Here are a few examples of my first pots.

Ooh, pretty!  So pretty!  I'd never guess those were your first tries.  They look so perfect, and the glazing is gorgeous.

Thanks so much you guys!  The instructor asked who in the class has zero patience and my hand shot straight up so I'm very happy they are round.

I find that crafts are very good time wasters. If they aren't for you, then you are one of those rare individuals who know what you're doing!

I set up a home studio (for studio read utility with lots of shelves and a kiln!) last year. My friends and I are also fairly new to this but if I can be of any help just ask.

My kiln was second hand but works well although it has two temperature control dials that do not equate to the temperature I need so I bought a thermocouple which works well.

The making and biquing of the pots is going well but I am having some issues with some of the glazes bubbling, these are ready made bought in glazes so my guess is that it is more to do with my temperatures than the glaze themselves.

Your pots are brill and I love the colours. Good luck...be careful though as this becomes very addictive xx

Nice work, my favourite has to be the top left one with the swirl in the bottom - its nice to see where your hands have worked the clay!
