I also agree with all the posters that plants are the best option to cover corners but if you don't want to add plants then in my opinion you can also install shelves then you can decorate it and put anything as you want.

Maybe it is a good idea to look for some nice furnitures? Here you can find something. Just try!

A dead corner can bring down a whole room; there's a ton of empty space there, just begging to be filled.

Some decoration on the walls--not necessarily pictures, something with irregular outline would be nice.  Since it's a dining room, maybe a collection of plates and platters.  Everything in your room is made up of square shapes, some curves would be great.

Nobody walks into corners, so they're a great place to hang decoration from the ceiling.  A pendant lamp would be good, or something arty.  I have a collection of glass-and-metal stars hanging in one corner of my living room.

A tall floor lamp works well in corners, too.  I have a torchiere with built-in shelves, so I can display stuff and have extra light.

an area rug under the table would help define that space as the dining room.  Mine is a polypropelene outdoor patio rug, so if something spills, it doesn't wreck the rug.  Worse come to worst, I can take it out and hose it off.  And they're cheap; my 9x7 rug cost less than $100.

I think you should put a standing lamp at that corner. However, I'm not sure that you have the powerpoint nearby.
This lamp can change the ambient of this space. In the daytime this lamp will be standing out with its shape while the night time it gives warm and cosy ambient for entire dining space.

The plant can be fill in as you want in the future. You can mix variety of plants in a pretty pot and sizes. Should be an interesting corner for you and your family to play and move thing around to make this corner wonderful.
