If you could find a way to drill into the bottom of the wood pieces instead of attaching a pin you could paint a design on the back and use the same pieces for 2 holidays. I'm thinking one for spring would be really sweet too, ivy and fleurs, how sweet!

That is a great idea! Mr Lime had suggested that I attach the houses that way to the pegs originally but some of the pieces were just too small to make that work. If I was more selective about the wood I scavenged, I think it would work!

I love the idea of a spring house too - with ivy and flowers growing up around the cottages. Cute!!

Do you live near a good driftwood source, craftylittlemonkey? I'd love to see you put your clever brain into a project like this Smiley.

I LOVE this! I wish you had accidentally sent it to me. The idea of a haunted version for Halloween is great. You must do that!

I do live fairly close to the beach and have a head full of season inappropriate crafts in mind, lol. Beach glass, shells and pebbles, and now drift wood. A nature altar is such a lovely thing to have the kids keep too. We shall see Cheesy Smiley.

Maybe they could be stuck onto some sort of base that has a hole or clip on it so no need to drill. My head is working on it...

Lime this is just gorgeous!! clever you

Mr jemimah loathes Christmas decorations, alas. But something this cute and stylish (and NOT glittery Cheesy) might just change his mind ...

I love the idea of a little village as the advent calendar.  I will have to think about what I could use to make a village.  (no driftwood around here!)

I bet you could just use regular old branches, lukenlarry! They don't need to float around the Pacific for a decade first Smiley.
