cutting square bottles

Does anyone have a technique for cutting square bottles? I've had success cutting round bottles using a bottle cutting kit, but it does not work for square bottles.

I was thinking that I could just use a regular glass cutter with a straight edge to score around the bottle, and then proceed as usual, but I was hoping someone might have a better method.

Your idea is your best bet. Make sure you score the corners pretty well, or they may not break clean. May also be worth it to tape just bellow the score line with masking or duct tape. Just to keep it from splintering.

I finally got around to trying this today, but no luck. I had some bottles with a lip on the bottom, so it made them easy to score. But, I could not get a clean break on the bottles. Back to the drawing board...

I've got a glass saw and know it would do the trick. If you have a glass shop near you perhaps they would cut it for you, for a small fee.

I ended up using a tile saw. I had to wait for some nice weather before I could try it out, so I wasn't able to do it until today.

It worked pretty well--especially for thicker bottles (I tried some beer bottles, but they came out too rough). I didn't get as clean of a cut as I do with scoring/heating/cooling, but it will work for what I'm trying to do. I'm going to buy some copper tape to put around the cut edges--that should make things look good and allow me to skip the sanding step.
