I plan to dip the shells I've been collecting in strongly scented maroon, black, or red parrifin wax.  I plan to spike black and maroon potpourri with them for a nice creepy Gothic feel.  I always thought those metallic green junebugs were pretty too.  They'd look good in a teal colored potpourri - well dried of course!

The pot pourri idea is so cool! Would love to know how it goes!

I'm terrified of those things lol the resin even distorts them to make them look even bigger! What an interesting idea, have you tried some of the beetles with the green/black shells? I bet those would be pretty too

That would look really cool, I'll have to keep my eyes out for some!!!

I did a moth a few weeks ago, that looked really cool.

How did you manage to..touch them?! I almost passed out when I saw the picture..haha.. I applaud your bravery! I wouldn't even be able to be in the same room as the shells. *shudder*  Shocked

Oh I was squealing like a little girl, believe me! But I'm not scared of them or anything, they can't hurt me.
It's just horrible sticking my hand in a box full of cicadas.

Hmmm I wonder if that would work with some of my old tarantula exoskeletons.
