A few years ago, I found a hideous mirror on the side of the road. It was faux wood grain paper stuff over partical board, with water damage at the bottom... peeling paper, you get it.... I rarely take before pictures, because, well... I never think of it until I am halfway through, and then I am having too much fun to stop! Smiley

Anyway, I sanded, primed, and painted. During the process, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I thought ,"Hello self! Hmm... what do I want to think when I look in this mirror?" Then I remembered my grandmothers saying. She told me, when I was an angsty teen, to look in the mirror everyday, and say to myself, "Every day in every way, I get better and better." I did it, and it really did help change my attitude about myself and my life and how to be a more positive person. Of course, that is what I will think when I look in this mirror, and hopefully so will anyone else, because I painted the phrase on the bottom inside edge of the frame. Anyway, enough story, on to the pictures!

Comments appreciated, after all, I am posting for camaraderie! Smiley

Wow!!!  You did a fabulous job on this mirror!  I absolutely love it!  (It reminds me of that furniture line I think they call it Sticks, which I greatly admire)

GORGEOUS! I love how you added the quote on the bottom. This inspires me to do a grandma-related craft too Smiley

That is gorgeous!  Did you also paint the doorway to your dining room?  I like how the blue and green link the spaces.  Is that a quilt on the wall?  I think I like your entire house! Smiley

Thank you Aliped! I did paint the doorway, and I like that the blues match between it and the mirror.. Smiley The quilt in the background is actually a patchwork curtain. it opens like a roman shade. I have a few of them around, but that is probably my favorite because it has bits of the childrens' clothing from when they were little! Smiley

I love this mirror! I also love everything in the background, the painting in the doorway and the quilted curtains. Beautiful work! And the fact that it is inspired by your grandma makes it even more beautiful.
