Also started working on, and finished that evening, an interestingly shaped can I sprayed with gray primer, covered with white "lace" paper, added leftover bits of Japanese washi paper, and finished it with three strands of mizuhiki (a colorful, thin Japan cording made from paper):

Quite productive, weren't we!

Wow. that turned out really nice. and Yes! we were productive.

Anyhoot, I recently learned (via tutorials) how to fold stars out of really long (drinking) straws.

icrispyi, the drinking straw stars are very cool!  The day after our last meeting I was going to get some paper to make the stars you taught me...and tore the ligaments in my ankle so driving was out (it's my left ankle and I drive a stick shift).  So I made strips out of paper I had at home, and a few days later managed to get some sheets of colored paper and made more strips---I was a star-makin' fool for a few days there, and had to force myself not to fold in order to calm the mania!

And yes, by the current schedule, August 13 is our next get-together.  Paper mache fun, anyone?

Wow! I hope that heels heals soon! Hyuk!

...i SO know what you mean about folding stars. I'd do it until my fingers hurt. It's fun to make really big ones cause they're so fat and cute.

Paper Mache is cool. I'll bring some supplies. Would I be outcasted if I were to do something else though?

Hi everyone . . . I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Marisa and I am currently attending college in the Los Angeles area.  I was SO disspointed when i found out that there were no clubs at my college having anything remotely to do with arts and crafts  Sad  However, I am so happy that there is this group and I hope that I will be able to attend one of your meetings in the future!  Paper mache sounds great!   Tongue Look forward to meeting all of you!

OF COURSE!

This group usually meets the second saturday of each month.

Last month's meeting never really happened... I had car trouble and I think a few other people were just too busy. Anyhow, it's not hard to stay current with this board. Haha. Check back in about a week or two. and there should be talk of craft theme and meeting place.
