I love Christmas-time! And I love crafting for the people I adore... My 16 year old step-daughter mentioned that she likes koalas, but wasn't sure how to craft one best, as she isn't into stuffed animals. She does love hats, but I just made her one for her birthday in September... So I thought a nice headband/ear warmer thingy might be fun.

Since I'm a lazy knitter, and like fast projects, I went with a bulky roving wool. That actually ended up being perfect, and the pom pom ears are pretty awesome, if I do say so, myself. =D

My 12 year old, Lydia, begged to model it. And for me to make a second one for her!

And here is the second one...

Did you use buttons for the eyes?

Yes, I did. They are about 1/2" in diameter.

This is an adorable idea. You might find yourself very busy every Christmas once your daughters start wearing them out!

How did you get the pom poms to be gray in the back & white only in the front?

I made a paper donut pom pom maker thingy and wrapped one third of it thickly with white, then wrapped the rest with gray. Think like a pie slice... You don't want to wrap the white yarn around the entire surface of the donut, just one piece of it.
