This is my Mom's Christmas gift: a new scripture bag.  I made this without a pattern.  It's fully lined and roomy enough for her to fit her scriptures plus any additional resource books or notebooks.  The pics don't really show how pretty this purple is (yeah, my camera is craptastic).


I really love the patchwork effect with the different black & white fabrics.  Shows the silver handles and you can sorta see the beaded tassel that weights the top flap:


pencil pocket on the side for marking pencils or writing utensils for taking notes


there's a pocket like this on the front, too, for papers or handouts or whatever:

That's a lovely, thoughtful gift. I like the idea of a weighted tassel to assist closure.
