This is my first shawl, rectangular. I used the stitch sampler shawl patt. from ravelry, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stitch-sampler-shawl
Mine is a bit smaller because I used a few different colors of worsted weight yarn as opposed to the bulky weight yarn recommended, but I still love it! Super easy and the different stitches were a lot of fun!
Excuse the faces and bra straps in the pics, these were the best I could manage... The 2nd pic is before I wove in the ends. As you'll see the colors are black, blue, orange and red. I got the yarn from a friend who gave up knitting (What?! Oh well, more yarn for me) and they were missing the ball bands, but I think they are wool, possibly a wool blend.

I love it!
I love the different stitches, it makes it kind of textured.
And I also like that it's worked lengthwise so it's long stripes--very cool.
