I really liked the melted crayon art but I wanted to take it to a whole different level.
Here is my "Phoenix".  Wax and acrylic on 18"x24" canvas.

Hopefully these new photos will show the texture better.

The tutorial is up. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=397873.new#new

this is fantastic. nowadays i'm seeing a lot of melted crayon art, but they are all really simple.
clearly, you had great control over your medium in this. truthfully, i would've gotten way too frustrated to finish a project like this haha

so i guess what i'm trying to say is... AWESOME

This is really, really stunning. I, too, would love to know how you did it if you wouldn't mind sharing, especially the fine detail in the head.

That is amazing! How did you do it, the whole melting and controlling the flows and stuff? Really really nice! I bet it looks even better in person, when you can see the texture better!

Would it by any chance be a stencil (to keep lines crisp) and crayons through a gluegun? Im fascinated by it lol

thanks for agreeing to making a little tutorial - I'm hoping your technique is adaptable to other images, as I don't want to just copy what someone else does. Your Phoenix is very pretty.

Great use of crayons and heat.  Creation from destruction so Phoenix motif was perfect.
