I've been using PZ Kut but want to try some other materials. I also just use a x-acto knife and have been looking to get some proper carving tools.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

you can use eraser material to make small stamps - like the classic Pink Pearl, you can cut into soft woods too, or use pieces of foam to make a stamp, and back it on a wood base, or anything more solid.  Same with cork coasters and tiles - though because of the texture of cork, that will come through, but could make an interesting effect.  You can buy linoleum pieces that are specific for stamp making, and Speedball is one company that makes them and makes carving tools for stamp making.  I know they carry them at almost all of my local art stores that I visit.

If you go to the Image Reproduction forum, you will probably find more information there - there are several members who make their own stamps and lino images who have posted their work there.

If anyone is swapping with me & happens to see any of the Pickup Trucks Forever stamps on their mail - please pop them in the package for me - my hubby would love them!  Huge pre-emptive thanks

I use the pink speedycarve and I love it! I've used the white and it crumbles both under the knife and afterward. I went backpacking with a square of the white speedycarve, so I couldn't get anything else, and I carved a 2x4 topo map that broke in half. I trimmed up the bigger half, planted it as a letterbox in Big Sur, and then the finders let me know it had broken in half again.
