I picked up this Fiskars cutting thing today for my paper crafting fun....

But I can't get the dang thing to work. I can get it for freehand but I wanted to cut out windows with a template thing I also picked up.

The template thing is like one of these...

Mine has different types of shapes, including a circle, which is what I'm starting with because it seemed like it would be easiest shape.

Anyway, the blade doesn't seem to want to rotate around the curves. I've tried adjusting the tension, in case I have it wrong for the thickness of paper, pressing more/less firmly. Faster/slower....I just can't get it to work. Any suggestions? Or advice about other tools people use that they like better. I'm back to using the template with my regular Xacto knife or tracing & cutting with scissors. And that makes me sad.

Answered my own question... Apparently it makes a huge difference if you have the template right side up or not. (And "right side up" seemed the wrong way to me, so...yeah. Had to find reviews of the product, where people explained how to use it. Because the package for the product didn't. So far, having some success.

Would still love to hear about other cutting tools everyone uses. Like those xacto type things with the swirly blade, the ones the "fit" your finger? How are those? Thanks!
