A happy heart makes the face cheerful! Pr 15:13

I love hearts any time of year (I think my username says it all!)--so I recently made a whole bunch of heart ornaments for the Christmas tree.

They measure 3 1/2" across; the front of each one is made from 4 fabric squares, sewn together, then cut in the shape of a heart.  The back of each is a single piece of fabric.

Each one has a word I find meaningful in the center.  I printed the words from the computer, then traced the words onto muslin using a lightbox. I cut them out and sewed them to the front of each heart on the sewing machine, then hand-embroidered around the edges.  They are stuffed with fiberfil, and have a ribbon loop for hanging.

They aren't all for my tree; I will be giving some away.  They would be nice tied onto a wrapped package as an "extra" when gift-giving.

Ooooh , love 'em.  Yes, that would be a lovely personal touch to add to a gift.  I would be so excited over the heart before I even got into any package if I was a recipient.  Great idea.

They look really nice.  I have a box full of random fabric scraps, I may try something like this.

Did you use a heart template?  They are so perfectly plump and adorable.  What a great way to use up scraps.  Did you fill them with anything other than batting?  They would be great with seasonal scented filling.  Good job - I want some too.  I'm pinning them to my crafts I want to do list.

Thanks for your questions!  I made my own heart template out of plastic.  Yes, they would be great filled with something scented!  These are filled with polyester fiberfil that you can buy in a bag at any fabric store.  I just remembered--I posted a short tutorial for a heart similar to these HERE.
