Thanks, all - I wore it to work last week with a wrap white button down that tied just at the pink ribbon. I got tons of compliments all day and even from a woman on the street as I was walking home (and this is in Brooklyn, where people are generally not so friendly on the street!).

I love retro-fifties styles - my unofficial uniform is a full skirt with a button-down belted over it or a little sweater when its cooler. Thrift stores in New York aren't very good (overpriced and overshopped - they were so much better in the dinky little town I used to live in!) so ever since I moved to the city I've been relying on ebay and my sewing machine Smiley

that's SUCH a great idea--those prom dresses are usually way cheap, too.  i'll have to keep on the lookout.
