Hi All!

I work at the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati OH on their Power Pack program.  It provides a bag of 9-12 shelf stable food items to kids in schools that are at the most risk of weekend hunger due to the lack of free and reduced meals over the weekend and holidays.  These bags contain items to cover breakfast and lunch for both Saturday and Sunday for 10% of the kids who are on the free and reduced lunch program at schools that have 60% or over of their population in the free and reduced lunch program.  The Power Packs are provided to the students and schools at no cost to them.

We are currently having the issue of negative stigma being attached to the bags by older students in need due to a number of reasons however the most prominent being that the bags are packaged by the Freestore in clear plastic bags.  This means that it is easily known what the recipients are getting and why whenever they get the packs.

I was wanting to get feedback from you guys on the possibility of doing a craft donation of simple fabric bags or envelopes that could cover the Power Packs and help to make it easier for students in need to accept the packs.  These could be in any fabric of choice as long as it was sturdy enough to hold about 4 pounds and opaque.

Does this sound doable? If so, this is the first time I've done any swaps or things like this, how do they usually go?

Also I'd be wanting to get almost 4,000 bags... so not sure about that possibility.

Thanks guys!
