I made some decorated party picks to help celebrate a special first anniversary.  They are made out of wooden skewers (the kind with only one pointed end) and upcycled junk mail.

Easy Peasy... Cut strips from paper.  Glue them onto the end of the skewer.  Roll it up and hold it with another dab of glue.  (A full tutorial here if you really want it.)

tada...  fun party picks.

What a super idea!!

I love the idea of a longer pick to hang on to those pesky meatballs!

Also love that you used stuff that would be thrown away--junk mail! Cheesy

Thanks for a clever idea...I see many parties with handmade picks!

Yeah, if you have lots of time to spend making picks rather than meatballs...  Well, I'm also the looby who spent hours attaching plastic spiders to toothpicks for a Halloween party.

I actually use those types of skewers to make my paper beads...I never thought to put the two together...duh! Cheesy

It might be a bit time consuming, but a pretty mindless project while watching ever mindless TV! Cheesy

I am thinking annual 4th of July party, so better get working on them soon! Cheesy

I came up with it by putting two and two together literally!  The first bead I made stuck.  I must have wound it too tightly as I can't blame the glue all over everything for that one.

haha--the best ideas are by accident!

I have such a tough time thinking of stuff to make for my sister...she entertains a lot so I thought I would make her a bunch to use at her next party...
