It's a hard job being a beautiful assistant...

All right... here's my situation. I'm moving into a new house in August (yay!), and I have the master bedroom (even more yay!). It's really long and kind of narrow, so as the walls and carpet are all white, I thought I'd paint an accent wall. It seemed kind of boring, but since I'll be moving out of the house in a relatively short period of time, I didn't want to do anything drastic. THEN I thought it would be awesome if I could have a lace design on the wall.

My question is this: Has anyone tried this idea in the past? I'm thinking I could buy panels of lace (like for curtains) and pin them to the wall and then just roll paint right over, leaving a lacy design on the wall. I'm not entirely sure if the paint would get into all the nooks and crannies, though... which might make it look crappy. In that case, I suppose I could just paint the wall and then tack up the lace and leave it.

Any ideas on how I should approach this?

Spray paint or airbrushed paint works. They do this with cars too, but use airbrushing techniques. If you use paint and a roller, the paint will soak through the lace and get blotchy.

Ohh I saw them do something like this on 'while you were out' or one of those design shows on TLC.  They painted over a doily on a dresser to leave the design behind.  It looked pretty neat.  Maybe you could find something about it on TLC's website?
Here they talk about using spray paint...
