I really like the color combination on the lapghan.

And the TM cosmetic pouch is great.

Abbyroad, I love the girl's superhero cape!

So much cool stuff! Me, I'm way behind-on reading, posting, and making. I've been tackling the overgrown yard before the blistering heat of summer sets in. And, I need to pick some things from my list and get cracking-but now I have a swap to craft for. I can resist anything but temptation..

On the afghan front!  I've finally started sewing squares together.  I have 6 more squares to make.  Please understand that when I say squares...  I mean 2 and a half foot squares.  Whoo hoo!  The end is in sight!  But I have until the end of October to get it finished.  Cheesy  I'm just excited that I've started putting it together and have more than half the squares finished.

Isn't it nice to see daylight on a big project, Ffrog?  I've just about finished a blanket for my sister -- with the end in sight, I decided to cast on a lapghan for her partner, so they can both snuggle down and watch TV.  Now I have to finish two big things!

I love the taxidermy magnets!  While I like a lot of the projects that are just pretty, I love it when they can serve a purpose, too.  I have magnets, I have action figures....

The lino cut is great, too.  Not to be too derivative, but I know I have the tools for that somewhere as well....

Still struggling to finish projects big and small.  I've knit identical toddler dresses in two different sizes -- which are just waiting for me to learn how to double crochet the edging....  a shawl just waiting for me to finish the top row... a set of sock monkey wine bottle bag awaiting appropriate eyes.... new garden beds waiting for a load of top soil... amended garden beds in need of mulch.... a back porch reveal awaiting a paint touch up.... front porch railings that need a coat of paint and a dry, free day to apply it....

On the positive side, I *have* finished some things; 2 batches of bacon jam, repurposed tins for gifts, a photo album for my mother, several terrariums and succulent "gardens" in repurposed tins, a triple batch of pulled pork packed up in the fridge.

This weekend is the big plant swap and I'm still potting things up.  A month ago I didn't know what I could take; now I have about 40 things ready and about that again still to pot up.

Will post pictures soon!

bacon jam Yofi?  Don't get me wrong...  bacon gets its own food group but...  jam?  I may have to swap you for some of this because I HAVE to try it!  Wink

I was pretty skeptical, too, but when I visited my younger sister in Flagstaff, she raved about aplace that served a dollop of it on hamburgers.  I made it, and thought -- meh -- but when I took it into work for a cook-out people -- even some of the most conservative eaters -- raved about it.  My other sister and brother-in-law devoured an entire jar in a weekend.

I've since made a version with a little smoked pepper in it that I like better, and I'll keep working on it!

fantasticmio, the lapgham is awesome!  I love the colors!

bacon jam?  That sounds horrifying!  Though I know a few people around my family that would get a major kick out of it!

I started with the Martha Stewart baocn jam recipe:

I've cut the brown sugar by almost half, and tried a couple of others modifications; using pepper bacon, adding a little chipotle and tamarind, adding a dash of worchestershire sauce.

You don't really can it, but it lasts in the fridge for about a month.  Tastes better at room temperature, tho'.
