This one I'm proud of. I found a Lisa Frank box at Goodwill, like new for a dollar. Took a pic just so I could have a before and after! *Lots* of purple and orange. I was going to give it new life as a box to display jewelry in for sale, or maybe just sell the box by itself. I do a lot of taking small plain boxes and decorating them.
I painted a thick layer of white over it, and some sage green (which ended up mostly hidden), then started decoupaging. The rose paper is as thin as tissue, but is more the consistency of wax paper, I've had it for over 15 years, something at the store came with this gorgeous paper used as mere packing! Then a few layers of clear sealer.
The top drawer will be used for necklaces. For the insert, I glued a thin foam pad to cardboard, glued white cotton around it. I can use push pins to keep things from tangling if I wish. The middle is for earrings, I cut stripes of black foam left over from insulating around windows, glued them to cardboard, a spritz of white paint to keep the black from showing through, wrapped and glued more white cotton around it. The two smaller drawers are for everything else.
And I decided I love this and I'm keeping it.
And that it's going to be for jewelry I've made myself. I have sold or given away jewelry I'm happy with, and when I look at the ones I've kept for me-it's the not quite good enough stuff. Well, that's ending. They'll get any tweaking needed to make them something I'd be proud to give someone, then I will wear them and enjoy them.
So yeah. Project started in december, plain white and rose pattern, definitely upcycledj and recycled, and just for me.

I REALLY wanna make this, just cuz its sooooooo cute!!! http://pinterest.com/pin/5559199509666879/  But where would I get the peacock feathers?  Would Michaels carry them? I could always go and just check, but that always ends up being dangerous!

Just about any craft store carries feathers of all different types.

I think a lot of us crafters do that, the practice pieces, the slightly imperfect, the "not quite right" colour combos. We deserve the best just as much as anyone else!
I love the new look jewellery box. I have one that needs re-doing that might make it on the list this year.
