No pics... my jam isn't nearly as pretty (or as photogenic) as that which others have made... but I just made 7 jars (8 oz jars) of huckleberry jam. And a huckleberry pie. Neither of these were planned, but I needed freezer space, so used up the rest of my berries from last year.
Sounds yummy!  What does huckleberry taste like?

Love the teeny Totoro!!

underthemountain: think blueberry... but smaller, purple, and 100x stronger in flavor. That's what I think of blueberries anyhow... larger, blue, and taste like a very watered down huckleberry.

That's a great description, Eclectic!  I have some huckleberries I picked last month in the freezer.  Mmmmm huckleberry jam.  I don't even like jam, but huckleberry is the one that I will actually eat.  Its soooooo good!  Sad thing is, my husband doesn't like huckleberries.  Though he also doesn't like blueberries, either.  Huckleberry pie is a tradition in my family.  We always make it for Thanksgiving and Easter.  And this year, my mom made one for my birthday!  Mmmmm!

Huckleberries only grow wild in the mountains.  I think the season for huckleberries might be up, they usually are good to pick at the beginning of August.  They are a PAIN to pick!  lol!  But, you might check any farmer markets or organic stores for huckleberries.  They might have 'em there fresh or frozen (though more likely frozen)

Now I know why I think blueberries are boring!  I grew up picking huckleberries on vaycay in Org and Mt. Rainer.  The Pacific Northwest also has claims on Marion berries, which are far more intersting then blueberries too Grin
