Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

oh silvermoon!!!  I must must have that pattern!  I lived in Turkey for three years and loved the dancers who wore the fezes!! Did you crochet it and then felt it?  It turned out great!

Yes, but I followed a knitting pattern I bought off Ravelry. I won't do that again. It turned out way too big, even after felting and I had to chop a bunch off the bottom. Note to self, must remember crochet is three times as thick as knitting.

Inspiration without application is moot.

Huh I've never heard that before. I know some people think crochet takes three times more yarn, but even that is just one of those things people say.

Do you have a crochet fez pattern?

That is horrible!  I think I know the pattern on that site...could it be your yarn?  I swatch my wool to 4x4 square and then see how much it shrinks...it is an extra step, but I have not found any woolen yarn that seems to felt consistently! Sad

I often wondered about that...I know crochet feels thicker...I should crochet and knit some yoga socks with the exact yarn and see Cheesy

Love the loomed scarf (is that the appropriate term - loomed?), the rainbow hat and shall, and the felt fez!

Cloth doll #3
may I present my Caribbean Mermaid Miss Sirena Fluke

Inspired by the fabulous remnant that is now her tail I just knew I had to make a mermaid with it.
She measures 18" from the tip of her fingers to the tip of her tail. I made up the pattern for the tail myself but her head, torso and arms are from a Jan Horrox pattern although I did alter her arms to be bent so they'd support her pose.
I can see a distinct improvement in my face painting and sculpting but still need to work on making pretty hands!

So lovely!  Yes, your faces are much more expressive...I love them!  The sparkley stuff is wonderful and sea-like!
