I made a set of holiday themed gift bags for a lady I used to work with. The checked fabric is a heavier material, and the toile was light weight. In all I made 11 bags (only 10 are shown because I am fixing the prototype to match the others). I used the fabric so efficiently that there was less than half a square foot of scrap from the checked material. The last bag had to be made of two strips sewn together and they came out nearly exactly the same dimensions as the other bags. I also had to use the toile to make handles for the last bag.

The toile has little scenes of Santa Claus and lots of cats on it. So cute!

I used French seams since I don't have a serger and wanted to prevent them from fraying. The cloth gift bag is a brilliant idea, and I might have to make some to give away to my own family/friends.

I thought it was really nice too, but it made me dizzy trying to see the same color thread on top of all that when I had to pick seams out for mistakes...
