I would never have guessed you were a beginner, it looks amazing. And your cute little dog will appreciate it when its cold.

It took me about 14 hours, 2 hours a night for 7 days, but somebody else could probably do it much faster!

You knit it flat, then stitch it up under the belly, then pick up loads of stitches around the cast off edge, which you knit with double pointed needles. That was the hardest bit. I have never used double pointed needles before and as I was stitching onto the needle, stitches kept slipping off the other end!

The pattern was based on a pattern in this book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1445405563/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=1405486104&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0CFQK98VVBG2KJP1TKCA
but I changed it to be stripy and instead of following the exact number of rows i just kept going until it fit him  Smiley
