The moment I saw Vekiki's Hands Around Your Heart pillow I knew what I was going to make my mother-in-law for Christmas!  She has been and continues to be a major part of my children's lives, taking care of them for me while I'm at work, and I knew she would love something with all of them.
I copied off their hands using a copy machine rather than tracing around squirmy fingers.  Then I cut around the copies and placed them in the best way possible.  It quickly became obvious that it would be a large picture.  It ended up being 14X18 to accomodate all 8 of my children's hands without being too busy.  Then I chose the colors and started stitching.  I took me about 2 or 3 nights to finish.
Thanks for the inspiration Vekiki!!

P.S. for those wondering- I have 7 girls and 1 boy, aged 1-14.  I liked doing this project at this stage in their lives when there's still quite a difference between the sizes of their hands!

This is sure to be a treasured gift. And what a fantastic idea to use a copy machine!

I think all the differing hand sizes makes it all the better - you'll be able to look back and compare as they grow up. I like how you arranged it with the names in the middle of the hands too Grin
High five!
