so the dimensions of the carry on bag I'm making for a friend who is pcs'ing to a new duty station are:

14 tall x 18 wide x 8 deep. it's a very basic rectangular bag with one thick adjustable strap and i want to add a recessed zipper using the ACU uniform top zipper from her husband's uniform. I already know how to shorten the zipper to the length I need it which was a bit finicky because of sewing the tabs on the thick plastic part of the zip but anyway

was wondering if anyone could give me some instructions on how to do a recessed zipper for a bag with these measurements?

I haven't tried this tutorial yet but it looks pretty easy. Maybe this will help.  Good luck!
