I want to make my best friend/boyfriend a big surprise for Christmas - I plan to get a big box and put lots of fun little gifts inside. I'm already going to buy some for him, but I want to MAKE some too, because I'm artistic and want to give him something that means more than "I spent 30$ on an iphone case for you."

So. I'm thinking I want to make a blanket. But I don't want it to be ugly or crafty looking. What do you think is the best way to do this? I know how to crochet, knit, sew, and more, so anything like that would be good.

Here are some things about him:
-He's British
-He likes Star Wars, Doctor Who, and Harry Potter the most..... X-men & Captain America aren't his top favorites but he likes them too.
-He loves video games, especially first person shooters like COD and Battlefield, & FIFA
-He likes good food
-He likes movies
-He likes iPhones & cases for them
(edited to add some more)
-Favorite colors are orange & purple
-Listens to dubstep, but generally has a wide range of likes
-He's 17
-Watches soccer ("football" to him haha) and played rugby in middle school
-Likes "clean" looking things. Probably a modern kinda guy. Doesn't like anything too girly or whatever or too complicated and complex. Simple designs are good.
-Likes british red squirrels & snow leapards
-Likes the  Union Jack
-Likes mint oreos

So far I think I want to buy him a couple of cases, his favorite candies from the UK and USA, make him a sandwich, buy him a t-shirt he wants, write a book filled with things I love about him (I'm halfway done @ #534 right now), and possibly make him a blanket.

MY QUESTIONS TO YOU: Does this sound good to you? What are other things I could add? What design should I make on the blanket and how can I make it so it doesn't look too crafty and girly?

Thank you so much! I look forward to your suggestions! This could be the last christmas we have together (he's  moving back to the UK) so I want to make it a good one.

My first thought was TARDIS BLANKET!  Short of making it a pink sparkly tardis, how girly could that be?
