I am totally at a loss here. For the holidays, I'd like to engrave something for everyone on my gift list. My immediate family was kind of easy as far as knowing which objects I'd like to engrave. My boyfriend is the difficult part.

I thought I might like to engrave a pocket knife for him. I know he'd love it, but in reality, I can't really see him using it.

Does anyone have any ideas? He likes comic books, video games, and tabletop RPGs.

People can always use pocket knives! I think it's a great idea. What are his favorite comic series or Video games?

I was thinking dice box, and maybe a felt covered tray for rolling them on if he likes RPGs - perhaps you can find a flat lidded box for the tray that can hold everything that you can engrave.

Thanks guys. I bought an extra pocket knife in case I can't think of anything, but I'm liking the dice box idea. I know this wasn't made for gaming, but I'm loving it: http://www.etsy.com/listing/74240021/padauk-jewelrykeepsake-box-tmp20110035

It would be so perfect. It's all gorgeous, and it even has a little tray! Wish it didn't cost $150. Sad

I emailed a company that makes metal dice to ask if they had any blanks, but they said no. That would've been sweeeeeeet!

Hmmmm - some of the larger dollar stores carry some decent basic wood boxes and trays, and so does Michaels too I think.  Flocking kits should be available too - I know Lee Valley Tool carries them.  A good stain and varnish should fancy things up too.

Another thought is a gaming clipboard - I know one of the psychiatrists I work with has a gorgeous wood one that was handmade that I admire and lust after - a funky engraved one for his gaming notes would be pretty sweet too - keep the note side flat and have some awesome engraving on the back.
