My son decided he wanted to be a boat for halloween, and what he wants, he gets!
I started with chicken wire, cut it and shaped it into a boat. Then I coved the pokey bits with fleece, hand sewing it in place. Then covered the whole thing in felt.
Its held up with a vest shaped thing which is sewn into the hole in the middle of the boat. I used a pair of pants I made: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u218/leighi123/crafts/clothes/100_0319.jpg
As the "legs" in the boat- I attached a belt to go around his waist under his shirt to hold them in place, and stuffed them.
His actual legs are the "under the water" part, so I made pants with fishy fabric. Also under the boat are stitched and painted felt sea creatures.
Levi made the sticks for the paddles by hot-gluing popsicle sticks together (I have dowels somewhere, but couldn't find them!)
I also made the sailor hat and shirt, and his trick or treat bag which says "I'm trick or treating for the troops" (we don't eat candy, we donate it!)
Its named Ursalia because he likes to play "coast guard pirates" (where he is a pirate who helps people), and he always makes his own boats from cardboard, he always names them Ursalia - no clue where he got that name, but it sounds like a boat name!
(close up of the inside, he spilled water all over himself!)

And just for fun, his back up costume: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u218/leighi123/baby/October%202011/100_2031.jpg
