Atticus' birthday quilt (he picked all the materials!)

My son, Atticus,  was turning 5 last year and wanted an owl quilt.  I took him to the store and he picked out all the material for the piecework.  This was my first time using binding on a blanket, so it was an experience.  For the back, I used a new twin sized jersey flat sheet that was part of a set on clearance while I was looking for something for the back.  We were running low on funds, his birthday is two weeks before Christmas. Atticus adores it. He is snuggled with it right now (he's almost 6 and has had strep throat twice in the past 3 weeks, poor guy!)
